Thailand | Ma family coffee

Three triangular wood and glass cabins perched at 1200m.

Pretty tempting on paper right?

Well in reality it is absolutely magical. Miles away from mass tourism and mega resorts quite common in the South of Thailand, Ma Family Coffee Farm is an authentic intimate homestay in the heart of the Thai mountains. It was founded by a family of coffee farmers who decided to share their knowledge and love for their crops.

Glamping

To reach this secret place, you will need to drive one hour West of Chiang Mai airport. At the end of a steep winding road, you fill find one of the most beautiful accommodations of Thailand. The cabins are nestled amidst the coffee trees, and composed of a main house with a double bed (possibility to add two matresses on the floor. No baby bed available); and a separate toilet and shower. You’ll probably have a bit of a glamping feeling.

Traditional barbecue

During the day you will be able to tour the coffee farm, learn about growing and processing the coffee beans. If you happen to visit during the harvest from January to March, you will be welcome to pluck the beans with the farmers. To add a little fun, you will also be able to try on traditional clothes while harvesting coffee!  A short walk from the farm you will find a tribal village of coffee growers, a great way to discover Thailand’s rural lifestyle.

Pick of the day will be the dinner. Picture a candy-colored sky over an ocean of green, and traditional barbecue of grilled pork, and boiled veggies and noodles. Memorable!
