HIKING AROUND A VOLCANO AND A JUNGLE IN TENERIFE

Hiking with two young kids, anyone up for it? To be honnest with you, just the thought of it gives us a anxiety, but thankfully Paulina Ślósarczyk from On The Way Family and our contributor based in Poland is here to prove us wrong. She recently went roadtripping around the Canary Islands with her husband and two kids, Joachim and Marcelina. Equipped with baby carriers, the active parents tested for us the most incredible hikes around Tenerife...

By Paulina Ślósarczyk from On The Way Family.Tenerife is an island of contrasts. On the one hand, a volcanic desert around the huge Teide volcano; on the other hand, a damp, juicy green laurel forest. To discover all those incredible places we rent a car and go ahead.A tour around the Teide volcano is a great adventure for the whole family. Despite the lack of shadow, a walk through the volcanic caldera is amazing (luckily we were there in April so the temperatures were not deadly). Because of the fact that the Teide peak is very high we can not go there by cable car with children - it would be dangerous for their respiratory system. The most beautiful one - Las Teresitas located between the mountains- enchantes us with a picturesque landscape. It is a good stop for families because of many facilities and huge breakwater which creates a safe bathing area for children. Another great beach is Playa Jardin with black sand and surrounded by a tropical garden. It is perfect for swimming in the ocean, sunbathing and, if necessary, resting in the shade of palm trees with our babiesAs we like active leisure, we decide to go trekking in the Anaga Mountains, a virgin land where you NEED to bring children in carriers. The great thing is that to enter the trail, first you have to make a reservation. This guarantees that there will be a maximum of 40 tourists during the day - we met only a few people during the trip so we could feel like in the jungle not only because of the wonderful flora but also because we could be there alone. Definitely the most memorable hike of our trip![supsystic-gallery id=72]
